From the February 8th Show – An In-depth Discussion on Pain Management

Dr. Sanford Silverman MD was a fantastic guest. Dr. Silverman is a pain management doctor and helped create the necessary dialog our country needs to address the growing culture of drugs in our society that is creating too many negative outcomes. Dr. Steven Gelfand MD weighed in with some insightful comments and Dr. Kirk Van Rooyan MD called in with an excellent comment and question. This show had discussion NPR would appreciate.
Dr. Silverman, a skilled Anesthesiologist, proved qualified and well trained doctors are necessary in the field of Pain Management. The radio show remains appreciative that Dr. Silverman presented his perspective on treating “pain patients” and made it clear that OxyContin should be reserved for a very limited population of patients.
Although not discussed on the show, Larry G. asks the question what the next step is? Dr. Silverman represents a portion of doctors who are not being recognized for the valuable service they provide and how do we begin to alleviate and eliminate the unscrupulous doctors who continue to damage the reputation of qualified doctors?
