The radio show has been outspoken concerning the New Drug Application on Remoxy, the product that intends to replace OxyContin. The makers of Remoxy contend that it is less “abuse resistant” than OxyContin and “safer”. Remember, same ingredients, same dosage, same usage and “safer”. There remains no proof that continued addiction and deaths will not follow Remoxy and complete studies on both the addiction and abuse potential have not been completed on Remoxy. Although the Associated Press reported: “On Thursday, an FDA panel took an unofficial 11 to eight vote in favor of approving the drug Remoxy”, the radio show is the only media source in the country telling you that the vote never took place. The Advisory Committee did narrowly concede that the formulation may be less prone to abuse (97% of OxyContin deaths are from swallowing tablets whole), but the Advisory Committee did not vote for approval of the product. The overwhelming majority on the Committee had serious concerns about releasing Remoxy into America. Your comments on the FDA considering the release of another oxycodone formulation is welcome.
