I have long been a critic of the marketing by the disingenuous message "Lock Your Medicine Cabinet". I long ago revealed the close ties of Partnership For a Drug Free America and the drug companies. Most of the public organizations who "care about your kids" directly or indirectly receive or are influenced heavily by the drug companies or well funded drug company pain organizations. Purdue Pharma, makers of OxyContin presented themselves as "partners" with Partnership for a Drug Free America at the recent Public FDA meeting in Washington on Sept 24.
The "lock your medicine cabinet" theme has been ingenious. It subtly conveys that the drugs are safe for adults and not safe for children. The truth is that the drugs are not intended for children or marketed to children. The message of danger is going to the exact population who is not the intended purchaser. How stupid can America be on this issue?
The facts are in: The National Center for Health Statistics recently published that the leading cause of injury death for people aged 35 to 54 is from poisonings. Drug poisonings make up the largest portion of the definition for poisonings.
The adults are quietly dying courtesy of the silence from the drug companies and your FDA and the mass media continues to play the music of "lets protect the children". How long can the lunacy of addiction, death and destruction continue and the country collectively remain silent? Are the adults that expendable in the equation of drug company profits.
